It was a crisp morning and the sun was just beginning to rise when Grayson pulled up in front of Waterfront. Seth was asleep in the back seat snoring; he had been thrilled to go with Grayson, but hadn’t been quite ready to start the day, which is why he had made himself at home in the back. Grayson cleared his throat and turned the truck off, reaching for his cup of coffee as he popped the door open and hopped out. Seth he said gently to arouse the slumbering dog Let’s go. taking a step back from to let the still sleepy eyed dog out. Seth clambered out slowly, still not totally ready to start the day; the sun wasn’t even out for heavens sake! A yawn pressed at his muzzle and he pealed back his lips and curled his tongue releasing the pressure. Taking a bow, he stretched his legs out before giving himself a good shake and sitting down, still looking a little blurry-eyed and slightly bewildered.
Grayson smiled in amusement as he reached down, ruffling Seth’s ears before shutting the truck door close and shoving the keys into his pocket. Come on let’s go he said taking off to the track, coffee in hand and Seth in tow. It was such a pleasant morning, the air was crisp and the sun’s rays were just beginning to touch the buildings and landscapes, giving them a silhouette look. The sky was painted in the most astounding and breathtaking colors that could rival any sunrise in Texas. Pausing, he took a moment to admire it and wished that he had a way to capture its beauty, whether in a photograph or painting. He carried neither of those things right now, and so he simply watched as the sun kept painting brilliant colors in the sky as it rose. Some moments just weren’t meant to be captured, they were just meant to be remembered and enjoyed in the moment, like this one. With a smile he looked down at Seth Just beautiful isn’t it? he said looking back at the sky while absentmindedly stroking Seth’s head. Seth let out a small bark as if he was agreeing with his owner and Grayson chuckled, his eyes twinkling as he glanced back down at his dog. Shaking his head, he moved towards the track with Seth trotting his heels the whole way.
When they finally reached the track, Grayson leaned against the railing, quickly scanning the handful of horses out working on the track. He was looking for one horse in particular, but hadn’t spotted her yet. It was still kind of dark, so defining any horse farther out was rather difficult. Taking a sip of his coffee, a contented sigh escaped his lips as the hot liquid traveled down his threat. God, he loved a good cup of coffee in the morning. As he drank his coffee, he continued to watch for her, knowing that she would eventually pass him during her morning workout.
